Recently I was hanging out the guys in my family and a strange conversation arose. The older guys were talking about getting their prostates checked. (For a guy its kind of a weird procedure, someone poking around down there!) It turned into a 20 minute conversation on who they go to, did they like it, what they would do if the doctor found something. At family get-togethers I typically keep my mouth shut on health beliefs for they all know my views on what I believe should or should not be done. But I felt I had to say something to these guys. I gave them a reality check.
I asked them that if the doctor did find an abnormality on the test, what would you do? Would you do more tests? Would you let them cut it out? Would you do chemotherapy or radiation? Would you be scared and stressed out of your mind? What would be the procedure to fix whatever abnormality was found? The concensus was that they would probably not do any dangerous medical procedure, but rather change their habits to take care of the problem naturally. Most of the guys were scared to do any sort of radiation and chemo.
The solutions were many-They would eat a little better, eliminating some of the "junk food", they would exercise a little more, they would try to eliminate some of the toxins in their bodies, they would spend more quality time with their families, they would reduce some of their daily stress load, and a couple said they woould be getting more chiropractic adjustments.
Than why don't you do all of those things NOW?
Why do people WAIT until they are diagnosed with disease from a random medical test to start taking care of themselves? This is the difference of being RE-active versus PRO-active. The medical model of disease teaches us to wait unitl we are sick to take care of our bodies, rely on a test to determine whether we are sick or not (which is always too late), then take a drug, perform surgery, or do nothing to fix it. Does this system work??
The Maximized Living model of health teaches us to take care of our bodies now. Eat right, exercise, lower stress and build peace, avoid and reduce toxins, and most of all have healthy nervous systems through chiropractic adjustments. This way of living PREVENTS us from getting prostate cancer later in life.
So, I asked the guys if they would prefer another man poking around in their prostate, or to start LIVING today. HMMMM
