Organized Screening Leads to Breast Cancer Overdiagnosis Mammography-detected cancers represent "overdiagnosis" in about one third of cases, according to an international study published online in BMJ. (Overdiagnosis is the detection of cancers that will not ultimately cause symptoms or death.) Researchers reviewed published trends in breast cancer incidence for 7 years before and 7 after the full implementation of publicly organized screening in the U.K., Canada, Australia, Sweden, and Norway. After adjustment for the presence of older, previously screened women, the researchers concluded that about half the cancers detected represented overdiagnosis. When carcinomas in situ were excluded, the proportion was about one third. An American editorialist writes: "The question is no longer whether overdiagnosis occurs, but how often it occurs." He recommends a trial "to test higher thresholds [of diagnosis], such as only recommending biopsy for breast masses larger than a certain size." Every body has about 100-10,000 cancer cells wihin at any given moment. Cancer cells are simply the bad cells that your body must eliminate to ensure a proper homeostasis. Bad cells are replaced with good cells, that bad gets eaten up by your immune system. Someone 'diagnosed' with cancer simply has a bunch of bad cells that cannot get eliminated by the body. So understand that everyone has 'cancer'-- it's simply how your body can fight it. Reasons/causes of why a body doesn't eliminate them: Weakened Immune System-- Improper Nutrition (acidic diets, sugars, colorings and additives, hydrogenated oils, lack of vitmamins and minerals) Lack of oxygen at the cellular level (minimal to no exercise) Toxicity burden (medications, chemo, amalgam fillings, household chemicals, etc) Subluxation causing damage to the nervous system Stress So the recent article shows that there is an over-diagnoses of cancer. My guess is so that more prescriptions, office visits, and hospital stays can be billed! All of that money put into the tests and treatments should be going into building and maintaining HEALTH! The answer is not more tests, treatments, modalities, mammograms, MRIs...it MORE HEALTH! A Maximized Living LIFESTYLE helps you to achieve this. I don't want to wait until I get 'diagnosed' with cancer to take care of myself... -DC out
